A large forest and heathland area right next to little nature. Beech avenues, open heath and quiet. You walk straight into the forest. Known from the Vierdaagse marches.
Open river landscape along the Waal. Dykes, meadows and a great many birds. Flat and wide, perfect for a long walk or a leisurely bike ride.
Rolling old beech forest on a moraine ridge, with brooks and ponds. With an iconic pancake restaurant, like stepping back in time.
Heath with ponds and forest, part of the Rijk van Nijmegen. Wide and open, ideal for longer walks through all the seasons.

In Groesbeek, about the Second World War, liberation and freedom. Moving and close by. This ground has seen a great deal.
A park on a hill in Nijmegen, with the remains of an old castle and a view over the Waal. Nearby is Museum Het Valkhof.

In Nijmegen-Oost. Good espresso, a fine lunch and a terrace to linger on.
A colourful coffee and wine bar, with pastries, lunch and lovely sharing boards. Just as good for the morning as for the evening.
Sushi and grill in the forest, literally around the corner. Takeaway is possible too, Kiki arranges it for you in no time.
Two Michelin stars in Nijmegen, fully plant-based and entirely in season. For an evening you won't soon forget. Do reserve well in advance.
Modern French cuisine in the second-oldest building in Nijmegen. Refined and atmospheric, for when you really want to make something of it.
Along the Waalkade in Nijmegen you'll find cafés and terraces with a view of the river. Ask Kiki for her favourite spot for a drink at sunset.
Hilly trail and mountain bike area with varied routes through forest and heath. One of the few places in the Netherlands with real climbs. Routes start nearby.
Flat, wide cycling routes along the river and the dykes, with the occasional ferry. A lovely contrast with the hilly forest behind you. For cyclists, electric too.
A short climb of about 600 metres, known to road cyclists from the region. It begins right on our own street. For those who want to test their legs.
