why we made this

the place i was looking for myself

I'm Daan Dohmen. I've worked as an entrepreneur all my life, and later also as a professor of digital transformation. I founded the care innovation companies FocusCura and Luscii. I sold them in 2020 and 2024, and their technology is now used worldwide. Wonderful work, but also a busy life.

What I always looked for myself was a place to have to do nothing for a while. Close to the city, but in the middle of nature. To enjoy together with my wife. Or to run, cycle, or simply to be. With the calm and the quality you'd expect from a good hotel, but then for yourself, without the fuss.

I saw such an inspiring place nowhere. Until my good friend and business partner Thomas pointed me to a row of derelict holiday homes right behind his house. He gave me the idea, and now helps to keep everything on track. Together with a few craftspeople we made little nature. of it. The place that didn't yet exist, and that I would have loved so much myself.

A place called little nature. should live up to that name too. Where there was once an overgrown plot, we are restoring the forest. We remove non-native trees, give the old ones room again, and plant what belongs here. Something the neighbourhood can be proud of one day.

The cottages are built sustainably to the latest standards. We generate our own energy and use no gas. So the place stays beautiful, for you now and for the neighbourhood twenty years from now.

a place, even when things are hard

My work in care has never been far away. I lost my father and my brother-in-law to pancreatic cancer within a short time of each other. From close by I saw what such a period does to a family, and how much it means to be able to catch your breath somewhere then.

That's why we keep cottages free part of the year for families with a loved one being treated at one of the hospitals nearby, such as the Radboudumc, the CWZ and the Sint Maartenskliniek. A calm place by the forest, close by, to sleep and to be there again for those you love.

Because being away for a while is sometimes needed most precisely then.
